FAQ

The details, before you decide.

Answers to NYC wine tasting questions about bookings, pricing, venues, wine and food, non-drinking guests, and what your proposal includes.

Request a proposal

Getting started

What types of events can I request?

Corporate gatherings, client events, birthdays, private dinners, wedding welcome parties, resident events, and other private group tastings. Start with the occasion and guest count; the format can be shaped during planning.

Do I need a date or venue before asking?

No. You can begin with a date window and a general location. Tell us what is flexible and what is fixed so the proposal reflects your actual options.

Is this a ticketed public class?

The proposal form is for a private event request. It does not purchase a ticket or guarantee a place in a scheduled public class.

How far ahead should I inquire?

Inquire once you know the broad plan, especially for a fixed date, holiday gathering, large group, or unusual bottle request. Availability is confirmed for each event; there is no universal lead-time guarantee.

Pricing and booking

What determines the event price?

Guest count, the wine flight, host time, food, staffing, glassware, venue, delivery, and setup or cleanup requirements can affect the total. Compare complete event costs using the same scope, rather than only a per-person headline.

What is included in a tasting?

Your proposal defines the inclusions. Ask for wine quantities, host duties, food, tasting materials, service staff, glasses, rentals, setup, cleanup, and any fees to be listed clearly. Do not assume every option is included.

Does submitting the form reserve my date?

No. It starts the planning conversation. Your date is confirmed through the booking steps and terms supplied with the proposal.

Who runs the event, and whom do I pay?

WineTasting.NYC plans events directly and with hosting partners. Your proposal should identify the event operator, contracting party, planning contact, and payment arrangements before you commit.

What if the headcount changes or I need to cancel?

Final-count deadlines, cancellation charges, rescheduling, and payment terms depend on your agreed proposal. Review them before booking and contact your planning contact as soon as a change is likely.

Venues and logistics

Can the tasting happen at my home or office?

Request an at-home or office format. The space must permit the proposed food and beverage service and accommodate the group, glasses, and service needs. Share building restrictions and access details early.

Can you help if I do not have a venue?

Tell us your area, guest count, budget, and preferred setting. Venue options can be discussed during planning; rental, minimum spend, availability, and any outside-vendor restrictions must be confirmed separately.

What do you need from the building?

Useful details include room access, loading and elevator arrangements, security procedures, refrigeration, service surfaces, insurance or vendor paperwork, and the required cleanup time. Requirements vary by venue.

Can we host on a rooftop or outdoors?

Request that setting and share access details. The plan should address weather, shade, chilling, stable glassware placement, and an indoor fallback, including who decides whether to move the event.

Wine, food, and your guests

Do guests need to know about wine?

No. Tell us the group's experience level and whether you want an informal introduction or a more detailed comparison. The host can use approachable prompts and leave time for questions.

Can we choose the theme or specific wines?

Yes, include preferences and must-have bottles in the request. Specific producers, vintages, quantities, and substitutions depend on sourcing and must be confirmed before they are promised to guests.

Can people who do not drink participate?

Tell us how many guests need a non-drinking option and what kind of participation you want. Alternative drinks or pairing options can be discussed and confirmed in the proposal. Nobody needs to finish or accept every pour.

Can you accommodate food allergies or dietary needs?

Share requirements before products and catering are selected. Ingredient and cross-contact information depend on the suppliers and handling arrangements. Any specific accommodation must be confirmed; an allergen-free environment should not be assumed.

How long is the tasting?

The right length depends on the flight and event format. A dinner segment, seated workshop, and open-arrival reception need different timing. Your proposal specifies the hosted and service windows, including setup and cleanup.
